Project Noah's Ark

A painting by the American Edward Hicks (1780—1849), showing the animals boarding Noah's Ark in pairs

I was speaking with a good friend of mine, who was telling me rather excitedly of a new project she had been given at her church. The church's nursery walls were bare (after rearranging the room to be a nursery) and the church had asked her to design/decorate the walls. She approached me with the idea of Noah's Ark and already in my mind I started getting an idea as to what the nursery would look like in the end. The question however that I faced immediately was...what animals would one find on the ark? So of course the first place to look was the Bible.

Genesis 6: 19-22
19 )And of every living thing of all flesh, you shall bring two of every kind into the ark, to keep them alive with you; they shall be male and female. 20 Of the birds after their kind, and of the animals after their kind, of every creeping thing of the ground after its kind, two of every kind will come to you to keep them alive. 21 As for you, take for yourself some of all food which is edible, and gather it to yourself; and it shall be for food for you and for them.” 22 Thus Noah did; according to all that God had commanded him, so he did.

Genesis 7: 1-3
1 Then the LORD said to Noah, “Enter the ark, you and all your household, for you alone I have seen to be righteous before Me in this time. 2 You shall take with you of every clean animal by sevens, a male and his female; and of the animals that are not clean two, a male and his female; 3 also of the birds of the sky, by sevens, male and female, to keep offspring alive on the face of all the earth

With that info I know now that there are male and female animals of which there are birds after their kind, animals after their kind and every creeping thing after their kind. Some clean animals and some that are not clean which isn't very detailed haha but looking at those there is a way to know which animals were seen as clean and unclean. That's one thing I have now.

I spoke to a friend of mine from work, sort of to see if he would know what animals one would expect to find in the ark back thousands of years back, and the answer he gave me was not necessarily what I was looking for, but it was sufficient to guide me.

That's my current project and I do pray that all goes well but I guess for now only time will tell.

Proverbs 16:3 - Commit your works to the LORD
And your plans will be established.
